🎯 Session Summary

I walked window 5 of 6 of the Digital Artist (UI/UX) → Level 0001 “Web Fundamentals” (Apprentice 🌱) path, backed by the workflow’s sealed execute-mode engine evidence (real commands run in a disposable sandbox, not model assertions). The planner’s rotating window (offset 25, size 5, of 26 total level-0001 quests) resolved to exactly one quest this run: Stack Attack: AI-Built Django + React Enterprise ERP.

Headline verdict: FAIL (51.0%). The engine actually ran 14 of 20 runnable snippets and confirmed the quest’s core Django/React project-bootstrap commands work cleanly, but four load-bearing snippets fail exactly as written: the sample settings.py imports python-decouple, which is never in the pip-install list; docker-compose.yml’s celery-beat service depends on django-celery-beat, also never installed; the compose file bind-mounts three files (Dockerfile.dev, prometheus.yml, Grafana provisioning) whose contents are never provided anywhere in the quest, so docker compose up -d cannot succeed; and npx shadcn@latest init / the orval+openapi-typescript install both fail against current CLI/tooling versions with no documented workaround. These are exactly the checkpoints Challenges 2 and 4 ask a learner to verify — so the quest, as literally written, cannot be completed end-to-end today. Independent of the engine’s technical findings, this quest is also a poor fit for a Digital Artist learner at the Apprentice tier of “Web Fundamentals”: it teaches enterprise Django/Celery/Docker/React scaffolding with a VS Code Copilot chat agent, not the semantic-HTML/CSS/Bootstrap/Jekyll/JS-interaction competencies this level’s character sheet expects, and it never shows a visual outcome or addresses responsiveness/accessibility anywhere in six chapters of UI-adjacent work.

  • Dimensions: commands_work 2, content_accuracy 2, completeness 2, clarity 3, structure 4, safety 5.
  • Passed (tested), Chapter 4 Project Bootstrap: the full venv + pip install django==5.1.* djangorestframework==3.15.* ... django-health-check==3.18.* + django-admin startproject config . + 7× manage.py startapp block ran verbatim — Django 5.1.15 / DRF 3.15.2 installed with no conflicts, pip freeze wrote 48 lines, all directories created as expected.
  • Passed (tested): the Chapter 3 TimeStampedModel/Company/TenantModel snippet, placed in core/models.py, produced a correct migration via python manage.py makemigrations core; python manage.py migrate later applied all 19 migrations cleanly against the (non-decouple) default settings.
  • Passed (tested): erp/sales/views.py (SalesOrderViewSet) parses (ast.parse) and its imports (django_filters, drf_spectacular, rest_framework) resolve in the installed venv.
  • Failed (tested), config/settings/base.py sample: from decouple import Csv, config raises ModuleNotFoundErrorpython-decouple is never in the Chapter 4 pip-install list even though the settings excerpt requires it and the prompt text explicitly asks for “Environment variable management with python-decouple.”

  • Failed (tested): npx shadcn@latest init does not complete non-interactively as implied — the current CLI (v4.19.1) first prompts for an undocumented “preset” choice, then fails with “No Tailwind CSS configuration found” and “Could not find valid path aliases” even after the quest’s own Tailwind v3 workaround, because the quest never adds the tsconfig/vite.config.ts path-alias step the current CLI requires.
  • Failed (tested): npm install -D openapi-typescript orval fails outright with an ERESOLVE peer-dependency conflict (Vite’s react-ts template ships typescript@~6.0.2; openapi-typescript@7.13.0 peer-requires ^5.x). --legacy-peer-deps (never mentioned in the quest) “succeeds” but reports 15 vulnerabilities (4 high, 11 critical).
  • Skipped (unsafe/out-of-scope, honestly labeled): Chapter 1’s VS Code prompts-folder / chat-agent registration steps (no GUI in sandbox); createsuperuser/runserver/celery worker (interactive/foreground, and blocked anyway by the missing-decouple settings and never-fully-assembled /health///api/token/ routes); Challenge 4’s docker compose up -d full smoke test (not reached given the confirmed-missing Dockerfile/Prometheus/Grafana files); the three gh repo clone real-world-repo pulls and two dev-tooling pip install/npm install blocks (turn-budget priority call, not a failure).

  • HIGH · Chapter 6 “Full Docker Compose Stack” · docker-compose.yml · tested — three bind-mounted files (erp-backend/Dockerfile.dev, docker/prometheus/prometheus.yml, docker/grafana/provisioning/*) are referenced but never provided, so docker compose up -d (Challenge 4’s own first requirement) cannot succeed as written; celery-beat’s scheduler command also depends on the never-installed django-celery-beat. 🔗 Chain Continuity

This window contains exactly one quest, so there is no cross-quest linked journey to walk this session (quest_dependencies.required_quests and unlocks_quests are both empty; the sole recommended_quests entry is level-0000’s Terminal Fundamentals, outside this window). The continuity analysis below is therefore (a) intra-quest — does chapter N leave the learner ready for chapter N+1 — and (b) the quest’s fit against this level’s shared checkpoints for the Digital Artist path.

  • Intra-quest continuity is broken in three places, mirroring the engine’s own findings. Chapter 4’s settings sample assumes a dependency (python-decouple) that Chapter 4’s own earlier install command never installs — the chapter doesn’t even set the learner up for its own second half. Level 0001 “Web Fundamentals” (Apprentice 🌱) for this character is defined by the character sheet as: semantic HTML structure, CSS/Bootstrap styling, theming and publishing a Jekyll site, forging avatar/identity assets, and one small JS interaction. Stack Attack is a 🔴 Hard, enterprise Django+React+Celery+Docker+Prometheus/Grafana scaffold directed at a VS Code Copilot chat agent — content whose competencies (multi-service architecture, ORM/migrations, typed API-client generation, Celery scheduling) map far more closely to this same path’s own Level 1110 “Architecture & Design Patterns” (⚡ Master tier) roadmap entry than to Level 0001. Because digital-artist’s levels are a shared pool (per the character sheet: “Levels are shared across paths — this is the artist’s lens on them, not ownership”), this isn’t a bug unique to this window, but a real fit gap worth flagging: a design-first learner arriving here straight from CSS/Jekyll quests, with only Terminal Fundamentals as a stated prerequisite, has no on-ramp to Python virtualenvs, Django, or Docker Compose before being dropped into this quest’s Chapter 4.

🧠 Reasoning & Method

  • Mode: execute (sealed). The quest-walkthrough.yml workflow pre-computed and sealed walk-evidence.json/walk-evidence.md via the deterministic agentic execute engine before this session started; I consumed both files as-is and made zero edits to walk-plan.json, walk-evidence.*, or any quest content. I did not and could not re-run the engine myself (its child claude processes cannot authenticate from my Bash tool). This was not a --mock run — the evidence carries real cost_usd/turns/duration_s/session_id metadata ($1.7525, 36 turns, 391s, session_id: 0aa8522f-...).
  • What I ran vs. reasoned: every passed/failed/skipped cited in §Evidence is a command the execute engine actually ran in its own disposable sandbox (real pip/venv/django-admin/manage.py execution, real npm/npx installs, real docker compose config / docker run nginx -t / bind-mount failure reproduction). My own contribution this session was entirely read-only reasoning on top of that sealed evidence: reading the full quest source (pages/_quests/0001/stack-attack.md, all 1839 lines) end-to-end, reading the quest-character-digital-artist character sheet for the persona/lens/per-level checkpoints, and reading quest_dependencies/environment frontmatter directly. I did not execute any command myself in this session — all “tested” claims trace to the sealed engine, and everything I add (curriculum-fit, visual-payoff/a11y gaps, the project_dir: Library oddity) is explicitly labeled reasoned.
  • Coverage / limits: this is window 5 of 6 of a 26-quest level, and this run’s window resolved to a single quest — I make no claim about the other 25 quests (a prior window on 2026-08-28/2026-08-29 covered a different 5-quest slice; the remaining quests accumulate coverage in the ledger across future runs). Because there is only one quest, there is no multi-quest linked-journey chain to report this session — I have said so plainly rather than manufacturing chain findings that don’t exist, and substituted the intra-quest chapter continuity + character-fit analysis the skill’s step 3 still asks for.
